Autonomous support systems should know when to stop.

The promise of autonomous support is not that every answer comes from a model. It is that every customer gets a thoughtful next step.

Autonomy is a workflow, not a reply

A useful support agent understands the request, retrieves the right evidence, takes only the action it is allowed to take, and records what happened. Generation is one stage in that workflow—not proof that the workflow succeeded.

Evidence before confidence

A system should separate what it knows from what it suspects. That means grounding answers in current knowledge, showing the relevant source, and returning a clear inconclusive state when evidence is missing or contradictory.

Handoffs are a product feature

Some conversations need a person. A good handoff carries the customer’s question, the evidence already checked, the action that failed or remains pending, and the next decision for the teammate who receives it.

Technical investigation needs the same honesty

When a support question looks like an incident, Theo can connect the customer conversation to engineering evidence. It should form hypotheses, validate them against telemetry, and avoid claiming a root cause until the evidence supports one.

The standard we are building toward

Answered. Needs clarification. Handed over. Inconclusive. Failed. Those outcomes are more useful than a polished sentence attached to an invented confidence score.
